Suwa Taisha — an ancient Shinto shrine
The journey begins at the legendary Suwa Taisha complex, whose history spans more than 1,200 years. The shrine is dedicated to the deities of nature, mountains and lakes; every six years it hosts the famous Onbashira festival.

Ishii Miso — a historic miso brewery
A family brewery founded in 1868. For more than 150 years it has produced three-year naturally fermented miso in huge cedar barrels. A short tour and a tasting of signature Shinshu dishes.

Matsumoto Castle
One of Japan's twelve original castles surviving from the samurai era. Built more than 400 years ago, it is known as the "Crow Castle" for its black facade. Ancient interiors, defensive structures and views of the Japanese Alps.

Daio Wasabi Farm (optional)
One of Japan's largest wasabi farms. Crystal-clear mountain water, scenic canals, unusual wasabi dishes and the famous ice cream.
